To Ethiopia March 4–14, 2026

Dear friends and family,

My son and I are asking for your prayers and financial support as we embark on a mission trip (March 4–14) to Ethiopia to strengthen pastors while “remembering the poor” (Galatians 2:10).

Sixteen years ago, Kristi and I adopted two babies from Ethiopia. The babies are now 17 years old. We’ve spoken about visiting Ethiopia with them. We just didn’t know how, or even if. Now we do: my friend, Jason DeRouchie, invited me and Carson to join his team for a trip to Ethiopia through Hands to the Plow Ministries. Jason and his wife have adopted children from Ethiopia as well. In God’s providence, this is more than a trip, but a way we can be useful. We’re humbled and happy for the opportunity. Here’s from Carson about our trip and how you can pray:

This March my father and I are going on a mission trip to Ethiopia. On this trip, we will go to an orphanage in the southern part of the country. After that, we’ll head to the capital to train sixty local pastors and leaders in the Old Testament.

This trip is special to me because I was born in Ethiopia and lived in an orphanage. Unlike me, these children will not be adopted. Please pray for my trip in a couple ways.

Pray that I would be a good playmate. We’re there to spend time with the kids, and one of the best ways to do that is playing. Pray that I will overcome the language barrier and spread God’s Word in this orphanage. Pray that I would trust what is said in Luke 12:12 and overcome my human shortcomings. Pray that our teaching of the Old Testament would be clear and easily accessible. I won’t be in a teaching role, but our team needs prayer. Finally, pray for the time with my father. I’ll be graduating soon and growing fast into adulthood. Pray that this trip would be a sweet memory we look back on fondly.
